The Challenge
Industrial monitoring that’s too expensive and too complex.
Industrial facilities lose millions annually to unplanned equipment failure. The status quo — manual inspection rounds, reactive maintenance — leaves too much to chance. Environmental excursions in pharmaceutical facilities can destroy entire product batches worth millions.
Existing enterprise monitoring solutions are expensive, proprietary, and require specialist installation. Smaller and mid-sized manufacturers couldn’t justify the cost or the integration complexity. The market was dominated by solutions built for the top 1% of facilities.
The opportunity: a modular, hardware-agnostic platform that anyone could deploy — without specialist engineers, without proprietary lock-in, and without enterprise price tags.
Our Approach

We designed the platform around a single constraint: zero specialist installation. Sensor modules are self-describing — they connect, identify themselves, and start reporting. The abstraction layer normalises data from any sensor type into a consistent model regardless of underlying hardware.
We then extended the platform across five industry verticals — each with tailored dashboards, compliance reporting profiles, and alert models. A pharmaceutical deployment automatically generates GMP-compliant environmental monitoring reports. An automotive deployment surfaces vibration anomaly patterns.
The result is one platform, five industries, deployed in hours — not months.

How It Was Built

Platform Architecture
Months 1–3Designed the hardware abstraction layer and sensor normalisation model. Defined the modular architecture: standardised sensor modules, protocol adapters, and the data ingestion pipeline. Chose plug-and-play as the core design principle — zero specialist installation required.
Core Platform Build
Months 4–7Built the full-stack platform: firmware for sensor modules, edge processing layer, cloud ingestion pipeline, real-time dashboards, and alerting system. Implemented multi-protocol support for industrial communication standards.
Industry Vertical Expansion
Months 8–10Extended the platform across five industry verticals — each with tailored dashboards, compliance reporting, and alert profiles. Pharmaceutical deployments added GMP compliance documentation. Automotive added predictive maintenance models.
Go-to-Market
Months 11–12Built the complete Cohera product and brand: website, industry-specific positioning, case study documentation, and sales materials. Documented deployment results across pharmaceutical and industrial clients.
